The Cure are an English rock band that formed in Crawley, Sussex in 1976. The band has experienced several line up changes, with front-man, guitarist and main songwriter Robert Smith known for his iconic wild hair, pale complexion, smudged lipstick and frequently gloomy and introspective lyrics and being the only constant member.

- Smith once voiced himself in an episode of South Park, called "Mecha-Streisand", where he defeated Barbara Streisand in a battle.
- Robert Smith’s tears are mentioned in an episode of The Mighty Boosh. Apparently
- Robert’s tears are an ingredient in the most powerful hairspray known to man, Goth Juice
- Robert Smith has shown his dislike to the lead singer of The Smiths, Morrisey, many times in public, and the feeling is mutual. The pair remain rivals to this day.
- Smith supports Queens Park Rangers and enjoys playing football himself.
- Robert Smith was the first artist to appear twice on one show of Top of The Pops. He performed Love Cats with The Cure, and Dear Prudence with Siouxsie and The Banshees for the Christmas edition in 1983.
- Smith wrote vocals, sang, and engineered the song "All of This" on Blink-182's self-titled album. After the record release, Blink-182 played a cover of "A Letter To Elise" at the MTV ICON ceremony, in tribute to Smith.
- Smith provides backing vocals to Billy Corgan's cover of "To Love Somebody" by the Bee Gees from his solo album The Future Embrace.
- The Smashing Pumpkins are fans of The Cure and a cover of 'A Night Like This' appears as a B-side to the single of 'Bullet With Butterfly Wings'.
- Robert Smith did a voice cameo appearance as a character on the Cartoon Network show "Courage The Cowardly Dog".
- Following "The X files" fashion, The Cure participated in the X-files film soundtrack in 1998, with the song "More than this"
